76ers To Sign Elton Brand!!! Calling All Phans For The Big Party!!!

9 07 2008

Take a 76ers team which was knocked out of the 1st round by the Detroit Pistons. Subtract one helping of Rodney Carney and add one big helping of Elton Brand. Mix and let sit for 3 months. Serve at a big ass PARTAY!!!!!!!!!!

PARTY TIME PEOPLE!!!!! Miller, Iguodala, Young, Brand, Dalembert is a lot healthier than Miller, Green, Iguodala, Young, Dalembert. The Sixers still have the horses to run up and down the court, but now they actually have a presence in the power forward spot who is able to score and score frequently. Heck, he’s one of only four active players to average 20 points and 10 rebounds for his career (Tim Duncan, Shaquille O’Neal and Kevin Garnett being the others). John Hollinger of ESPN sees the move as adding 10 wins to the Sixers, putting them around 52 for next season. That’s true contention in the East, and it’ll go beyond just next year with the youth on the roster.

Brand’s deal is for 5 years, 82 million, ensuring that he’ll be here for multiple seasons. Well, not ensuring but it’s damn likely. This is a terrific deal for both Brand, who gets a secure deal for the next several years, and also for the Sixers, who get a premiere player to add to their lineup. And screw any of the inevitable haters who will attempt to compare this to Carlos Boozer’s free agent period. Brand opted out of his deal with the Clippers and was a free agent. Free agents sign with teams who offer them lots of money. Baron Davis supposedly signing with the Clip didn’t necessarily mean that Brand would as well.
