LOST: Jacob and Esau

Esau, twin of Jacob:

The Bible identifies Esau as the fraternal twin brother of Jacob, the grandson of  Abraham. Jacob became the father of the Israelites after God (Genesis 35:10) renamed Jacob “Israel.” Thus Esau shared his mother’s womb together with the founder of the nation of Israel. See Genesis 25. Although Esau was Isaac’s first-born entitled to inherit Isaac’s wealth and blessing, Esau sold his birthright to his younger brother Jacob (Israel) for a pot of stew. The descendants of Esau and Israel led divergent paths with Edom settling east of modern day Israel forming tribal chiefs while Jacob traveled all of Israel, his inheritance.

There is more to the story to Jacob and Esau than most understand. What is even more amazing, is the story is about “humanity”… all of us, you and me. What the writers of LOST are touching on, is a story that is unfolding in all of us. We are the ones that are LOST, humanity has forgotten who they are, but the TRUTH will set you free. THE CALLING A VOICE IN THE DEAD WOODS by Jacob Israel, is more than just a fiction, there is something, otherwordly about it. Strange the timing of this all.

yes. i don’t know very much about the bible…but my question is: why esau was the ‘bad twin’?….’cause even in genesis, we can see that he forgiven jacob, after all…

I don’t think it’s so much that he’s the “bad” twin, but that he is simply not the one who receives Isaac’s blessing (through cunning and plotting of their mom, Rebekah). And he loses his birthright for a pot of stew. So, not really bad but… unfortunate? slow? outwitted?

where does Locke fit into this all? is it something as simple as Esau using Locke’s uhmm…spirit? or does Locke hold some sort of signifigant role yet to play? is the smoke monster in on it with Esau? is the island involved somehow? does the island want a change? is esau the monster? jacob may be the yin to esau’s yang? just like the symbol of the dharma initiative? all valid questions. does anyone have any ideas they’d like to share?

esau is the smoke monster it’s as simple as that, the smoke monster took the form of Lock as a dead man and that is that.
