Update: Yanks win 8-1, and here’s how the former Phillies did. Abreu went 3-5 with a double and 2 runs scored, Cory Lidle pitched 6 innings, giving up 4 hits, a homer, one run, and 2 walks while striking out 5, and Fasano was 0-4 with 3 Ks.
FYI: Philadelphia Will Do is going to do a daily update on the former Phillies.
A few things:
– Bobby looks weird, but good, in a Yankee uniform. Still upset about the deal.
– Lidle looks a bit goofy without his goatee.
– Fasano is Fasano.
– The Yankees lineup 1-6 is simply insane. Johnny Damon, Derek Jeter, Bobby Abreu, Alex Rodriguez, Jason Giambi, and Craig Wilson?? WOW
And finally, Phillies go for the sweep tonight at Saint Louis, as they pummelled them (as I predicted) 16-8 last night. The bats came out last night, with Chase Utley extending his hitting streak to 34 games on two late-game singles (the first of which was first scored a hit, then a fielder’s choice, and then a hit again), Jimmy Rollins smoked two homers, and David Dellucci and Aaron Rowand hit homers that just carried over the fences. The ball is really carrying out there.
