Meet Your Phillies Single-Season Home Run Record Holder

1 Sep

The Washington Nationals may have won 6-5 in 10 innings(thanks Arthur Rhodes) last night’s game to prevent the Phillies sweep, but Ryan Howard ensured the night would not be forgotten with a blast to dead center field that traveled over 443 feet of true distance. He also got on base all 5 times he was up last night, and continues his march towards the MVP award.

Who would have thought that he would have done this in only his second season? I’m sure most of us thought he could hit 50 once or twice in his career, but not this fast, and not with this much time left in the season. Congrats Ryan, now shoot for 50!

700 lbs Of Pot Found; My Grandmother Conspicuously Absent

1 Sep

According to the Reading Eagle:

Federal agents arrested about a half-dozen people and seized 700 pounds of marijuana with an estimated street value of $1 million at a kosher poultry processing plant in Exeter Township, authorities said Thursday.

The raid at G&G Poultry Inc. at 1100 Lincoln Road occurred Wednesday about 5:30 p.m., according to Exeter police, who assisted several federal agencies in the operation.

Plant employees were ‘said’ to have been behind it, but my grandmother lives right near that plant and lately I’ve been noticing that she’s been entirely too happy. You just know she’s smoking that herb.  You know what they say Gram, don’t get high off your own supply!

Andre Agassi Is Still Playing

1 Sep

Andre Agassi just came out victorious in one of the best tennis matches I’ve ever seen. He defeated Marcos Baghdatis in a match that took over 3 and a half hours. It took cramps in both of Baghdatis’ thighs, five sets, and several tremendous back and forths for Agassi to win. His 21 year career continues for at least one more match, this time against Benjamin Becker (112th in the world).  This basically means that Agassi has a GREAT shot at advancing deeper into the Open, if his body lets him.
