Jimmy Rollins Ankle Is Off And Poppin’

8 Apr

Phillies shortstop Jimmy Rollins left today’s game in the eighth inning against the Mets with a sprained left ankle but said he hopes to play tomorrow.

“I could have stayed in the game, but that would not have made sense,” Rollins said. “It wouldn’t have been the right thing to do to help our team win.”

Rollins said he felt something pop after he slid back awkwardly to second base on a pickoff attempt.

Probably an ankle sprain, probably out a game at the most.  If he’s out, everyone’s favorite backup infielder Eric Bruntlett will man the dirt around second base.
